Janome Magnolia 7318 review

Janome Magnolia  7318 works just excellent even for beginners. A simple dial located on the front of this model allows you to switch between different stitch styles. In the same way, adjusting the stitch length and width is such a breeze with the Janome 7318. The reverse lever on this machine is also large and easy to use, especially for reinforcing stitches you make. You will also find the stitch panel that describes each stitch with the letter very helpful.

Other simple features on this machine make your sewing easier. E.g., the measurement markings on the needle plates for evaluating dimensions in your sewing. The seam guides on the needle plates also allow you to measure seam allowances. While sewing, you don’t need to keep looking over the bobbin to see the number of threads you have left; the bobbin cover is see-through on this machine.

Generally, this machine shows power and precision, which makes it suitable for your quilting jobs. The drop feed makes darning on this machine easy. A single push of the switch does the trick. This feature makes sewing pants legs and shirt sleeves easier.

The free-arm is easily detachable; slide it to the left to take it off. Removing and re-attaching the foot on this machine is easy; press the button to remove and lower the shank to re-attach. However, you have to be cautious when exploring this feature.

If you feel the machine is too complicated (I doubt that), take a peek at the comprehensive manual. It is easy to set up and has all these easy-to-use features.

Janome Magnolia 7318. FAQ and Troubleshooting

How to wind a bobbin Janome Magnolia 7318?

Does it sew through leather and jeans?

You can use this machine with challenging fabrics such as jeans, but I must warn you it won’t be easy. So you always have to make sure that you are following all the settings from the manual and using the right thread, needles, and feet. The motor is strong enough to do it, however, the lack of a very low speed makes it a bit difficult – as ideally, you have to go slower on thicker fabrics. But with a bit of practice sewing jeans and leather is doable on this machine.

Janome Magnolia 7318 accessories

This model comes with an impressive package of extras. You’ll get 5 extra feet to start with (Blind Hem, zipper, zigzag,  blindstitch, and buttonhole).

And you will get a bunch of other little extras – from a set of bobbins and needles to cleaning brushes, seam ripper, and screwdriver. It basically has anything to get you started right out of the box. Just get your fabric and threads and you are ready to go.

Is Janome Magnolia 7318 really a good one? Our verdict

Janome 7318 is a sewing-made-easy machine I will recommend for anyone. It has great features like top loading bobbin, easy threading and bobbin winding, plus a large bed. It also comes with a useful storage compartment and extra accessories like the Muffling mat, Schimetz 90/14 universal needles, 10 bobbins, and so on.

This model sews smoothly and quietly, great foot pedal speed, and is very sturdy in use. It is purely mechanical and easy to handle. In fact, the more you sew, the more useful features you discover this machine has for you.

I believe Janome Magnolia 7318 is a great mechanical sewing machine for seamstresses of all levels, particularly at this price point.
